Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants across a broad range of complex disputes throughout Alabama for more than three decades, Jonathan understands the costs, risks, and uncertainties associated with trial and he brings that real-world litigation perspective into mediation, helping parties make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary expense and delay.
Since beginning his civil practice in 1994, Jonathan has developed a balanced litigation background that uniquely positions him to understand the perspectives, pressures, and decision-making processes on both sides of the courtroom. His experience includes representation in personal injury, wrongful death, commercial disputes, construction litigation, employment matters, workers’ compensation, insurance coverage disputes, and real estate litigation.
Jonathan has handled cases in state and federal courts across Alabama, including extensive experience in North Alabama venues such as Huntsville, Birmingham, Decatur, Florence, and surrounding jurisdictions. This regional experience provides valuable insight into local juries, judicial expectations, and case valuation—an important advantage in mediation.
In addition to his litigation practice, Jonathan has served as Municipal Judge for multiple Alabama municipalities, further strengthening his ability to evaluate cases objectively and facilitate resolution. His judicial and litigation background allows him to assist parties in realistically assessing risk, identifying opportunities for resolution, and moving cases toward practical settlement.
Jonathan is known for his pragmatic, respectful, and persistent mediation style. He works closely with counsel and parties to identify areas of common ground, manage expectations, and navigate challenging negotiations. His approach focuses on helping parties reach durable resolutions while preserving professional relationships where possible.
Jonathan is available for mediations throughout Alabama, including Huntsville, Birmingham, and surrounding areas, and offers both in-person and remote mediation options.
